Owen Strachan’s new book, Christianity and Wokeness, should be on every Christian’s “to read” list.
From the foreword to the final chapter, the book keeps the focus on God’s Word as the ultimate authority. Strachan delves into the progress “wokeness” is making not only in our culture but also in our churches. He explains how it has gained a foothold among Christians, being promoted by men in the pulpit as well as books written for their congregations. Strachan instructs us on how to respond biblically.
Strachan devotes the largest portion of the book to demonstrating specific “woke” ideologies that are contrary to what Scripture teaches. He shows that “wokeness” is not only detrimental to the church, but also to our society as it attempts to undermine our systems, policies, and even history.
In this book, I highlighted more than I didn’t because Strachan put words to the unsettled feelings I’ve had about this shift in our culture. Because social justice includes just enough truth to sound right, it is sometimes hard to recognize the lie. If you’ve been feeling uncertain in these changing times, read this book!
**This is a great book for teens to read as they develop a Christian worldview. Add it to their curriculum.
